1. Basic installation
   • get the DVD(s) from
     http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/sarge-amd64/iso-dvd/
     You can get them by wget, bittorent or jigdo read more: http://www.debian.org/ports/amd64/
     Do the Instalation under a LAN-Conection, if you have no LAN-Conection get both ISO-Files
   • burn this Files on a DVD 
   • put under the BIOS the Bootoption on CD-ROM
     Boot from CD/DVD
     Important:
     To the debian SARGE Installations CD add the following parameters:
     linux vga=0x0344 noapic nolapic
     other way your laptop will freeze.
   • Follow the Screenoutputs
     Don't select any Package on the end
   • Install "nice to have Package"
     aptitude install mc lynx zip


2. WLAN
   (remember! Is your nx6125 not in LAN, you need the 2. DVD!)
   • aptitude install module-assistant gcc-3.4 wireless-tools
   • m-a prepare
   • ndiswrapper:
     cd /usr/src
     get source from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ndiswrapper/ and put it under /usr/src
     tar -xzf ndiswrapper-[version].tar.gz
cd ndiswrapper-[version]
   • check the gcc-version of the installed kernel
cat /proc/version
...gcc version 3.4.4 ...^
   • check the link of  gcc
     ls -l /usr/bin/gcc
     ...gcc -> gcc-3.3
   • change the link of gcc
     ln -sf gcc-3.4 /usr/bin/gcc
   • Now install ndiswrapper
make
make install
ln -sf gcc-3.3 /usr/bin/gcc
   • get the  64-Bit-Wlan-Driver
     wget ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_3010_5010/driver/xp64/80211g.zip
unzip 80211g.zip
cd 80211g
ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
modprobe ndiswrapper

   • Test the wlan
     iwlist wlan0 scan
     wlan0     Scan completed :
               Cell 01 - Address: 12:34:56:78:9A:BC
                         ESSID:"Was_Auch_Immer"
                         Protocol:IEEE 802.11g
                         Mode:Managed
                         Frequency:2.462 GHz (Channel 11)

   • put ndiswrapper to the modules-file
     echo ndiswrapper >> /etc/modules
     change  /etc/network/interfaces:
     for Example
     auto lo
     iface lo inet loopback
     
     auto wlan0
     iface wlan0 inet dhcp
         wireless_essid Was_Auch_Immer
         wireless_mode managed
         wireless_channel 11
         wireless_enc s:Passwort open
     
3. renew the Kernel
   • change the /etc/apt/sources.list
     
     #deb file:///cdrom/ sarge main
     deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 r0a _Sarge_ - Official amd64 Binary-1 (20050613)]/ unstable contrib main
     deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main contrib non-free
     deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-amd64/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
     deb http://ftp.backports.org/debian/ sarge-backports main contrib non-free
   • Create /etc/apt/preferences with the following lines:
     
     Package: *
     Pin: release a=sarge-backports
     Pin-Priority: 200
   • aptitude install -t sarge-backports linux-image-2.6-amd64-k8 linux-headers-2.6-amd64-k8 ia32-libs
   • reboot
   • NDISWRAPPER:
     see above! But remember the gcc-version!! the sarge-backports kernel waa baken with gcc-3.3!
4. CPU-Speedtepping (POWERNOW)
   • modprobe powernow-k8
modprobe cpufreq-userspace
echo powernow-k8 >> /etc/modules
echo cpufreq-userspace /etc/modules
aptitude install powernowd acpid
5. X ATI (under construction)
   • aptitude install x-window-system 
   • http://www.netzwech.de/2005/03/21/ati-grafikkartentreiber-unter-debian-gnulinux-sarge-installieren/
